WHARF WALKS

December 6. 2014 and on every first Saturday of the month

The Monterey Old Fisherman’s Wharf Association continues to team up with noted Monterey Bay Fisheries Historian

and author, Tim Thomas, who offers monthly “Wharf Walks” -Walking Tours at Old Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey

on the first Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM – Noon.  This month's tour will focus on "Crabbing on the Monterey Bay " NEW! Following your Wharf Walk, enjoy a delicious  complimentary calamari appetizer - traditional style or pesto calamari - at Paluca Trattoria (located at the head of the Wharf) with your purchased entree.  Read more

Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf Association, Whalefest Monterey and Monterey History and Art Association invite the community to view the exhibit of beautiful local marine life photos at the Museum of Monterey, 5 Custom House Plaza, on display from November 15th - December 30th and also attend the special reception on January 16th. This popular family friendly event is designed to educate and inspire the public about many of the outstanding marine organizations that are inolved in the Monterey Bay area and the Monterey Bay National

Photography, Artifacts and Video Stories

A celebration of a year-long gathering of stories and mementos of the Fishing Families that made Monterey famous. The industry had a great impact on the families and future generations of Italian and descendants of the multicultural fishing pioneers. Hop aboard the "Chattanooga Choo Choo" to “Tuxedo Junction  and get "In the Mood" to hear a “Moonlight Serenade” performed by a 13-piece Big Band and a half dozen singer-dancers wigh some hot boogie woogie! In The Mood is a fully staged tribute to Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, The Andrews Sisters and big band greats of the '40s. WEST SIDE STORY

West Side Story is an American musical with a libretto by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and conception and choreography by Jerome Robbins. It was inspired by William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. The story is set in the Upper West Side neighborhood in New York City in the mid-1950s, an ethnic, blue-collar neighborhood. The dark theme, sophisticated music, extended dance scenes, and focus on social problems marked a turning point in American musical theatre. Bernstein's score for the musical includes "Something's Coming", "Maria", "America", "Somewhere", "Tonight", "Jet Song", "I Feel Pretty", "A Boy Like That", "One Hand, One Heart", "Gee, Officer Krupke", and "Cool". KISS ME KATE

Winner of 3 Tony Awards & Critics Circle for Best Musical, Kiss Me Kate is a musical with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The story involves the production of a musical version of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and the conflict on and off-stage between Fred Graham, the show's director, producer, and star, and his leading lady, his ex-wife Lilli Vanessi. A secondary romance concerns Lois Lane, the actress playing Bianca, and her gambler boyfriend, Bill, who runs afoul of some gangsters. The original production starred Alfred Drake, Patricia Morison, Lisa Kirk and Harold Lang and won the Tony-Award.
