WHARF WALKS

Saturday, June 6, 2015 and on every first Saturday of the month

The Monterey Fisherman's Wharf Association continues to team up with noted Monterey Bay Fisheries Historian and author, Tim Thomas, who is offering monthly "Wharf Walks -Walking Tours at Monterey's Old Fisherman's Wharf" (www.montereywharf.com) on the first Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM - Noon. Wharf Walks will be held on June 6th focusing on "More Squid Tales of the Monterey Bay."

Monterey Bay Whale Watch (http://www.montereybaywhalewatch.com) on Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf will offer a $3.00 off coupon for a Whale Watching trip with them for all Wharf Walks participants of the April 4th Wharf Walks. Read more

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SERIES - STEVE WINTER - THE TRAIL OF BIG CATS: TIGERS, SNOW LEOPARDS AND COUGARS

Known for breaking through barriers and going undercover to reveal hidden societies, Cobb has captured fascinating glimpses of worlds such as Japan's secret Geisha culture, and the cloistered lives of Saudi Arabian women. MONTEREY BAY GREEK FESTIVAL

Labor Day Weekend Saturday, Sunday and Monday - September 5-7, 2015 - 11 am - 6 pm

Saint John The Baptist Greek Orthodox Church will be holding its annual Greek festival at the Custom House Plaza in Monterey adjacent to Fisherman's Wharf. There will be homemade Greek food, exciting vendors, great dancers and Greek music. Admission is always free in the food is always delicious.

 

WEST SIDE STORY

Friday & Saturday, September 5-6 and Friday & Saturday 12-13, 2015

West Side Story is an American musical with a libretto by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and conception and choreography by Jerome Robbins. It was inspired by William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. The story is set in the Upper West Side neighborhood in New York City in the mid-1950s, an ethnic, blue-collar neighborhood. The dark theme, sophisticated music, extended dance scenes, and focus on social problems marked a turning point in American musical theatre. Bernstein's score for the musical includes "Something's Coming", "Maria", "America", "Somewhere", "Tonight", "Jet Song", "I Feel Pretty", "A Boy Like That", "One Hand, One Heart", "Gee, Officer Krupke", and "Cool". COMEDIAN LISA LAMPANELLI

Lisa Lampanelli is known as Comedy's Lovable Queen of Mean. This equal opportunity offender is a regular on Howard Stern's Sirius satellite radio shows, and she has appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Show with David Letterman," "Chelsea Lately," "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "The Dr. Oz Show" and "Good Morning America." KISS ME KATE

Friday & Saturday, November 28 & 29 and Friday & Saturday, December 5-6, 2015

Winner of 3 Tony Awards & Critics Circle for Best Musical, Kiss Me Kate is a musical with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The story involves the production of a musical version of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and the conflict on and off-stage between Fred Graham, the show's director, producer, and star, and his leading lady, his ex-wife Lilli Vanessi. A secondary romance concerns Lois Lane, the actress playing Bianca, and her gambler boyfriend, Bill, who runs afoul of some gangsters. The original production starred Alfred Drake, Patricia Morison, Lisa Kirk and Harold Lang and won the Tony-Award.
