WHARF WALKS

October 4, 2014 and on every first Saturday of the month

The Monterey Old Fisherman’s Wharf Association continues to team up with noted Monterey Bay Fisheries Historian

and author, Tim Thomas, who offers monthly “Wharf Walks” -Walking Tours at Old Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey

on the first Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM – Noon.  This month's tour will focus on "Squid Tales of the Monterey Peninsula." NEW! Following your Wharf Walk, enjoy a delicious  complimentary calamari appetizer - traditional style or pesto calamari - at Paluca Trattoria (located at the head of the Wharf) with your purchased entree.  Read more

EARLY HALLOWEEN FUN BENEFIT EVENT AT CAROUSEL CANDIES FOR COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FOR YOUTH

Face painting from Noon to 3:00 p.m. 20% of proceeds will be donated to Community Partnership for Youth, a 501(c)3 non-profit. All attendees will receive a Halloween Treat Bag that day from Noon to 3:00 p.m. Carousel Candies staff and Community Partnership for Youth face painters will be in Halloween costumes and the public is invited to come in a costume, too. The “Everything Italian! Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf Columbus Day Weekend Celebration” will highlight special Italian dishes featured at the many Wharf restaurants in honor of the holiday.  On Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th, there will be many fun family activities, including special “guests’ from history including Queen Isabella and her court, Tarantella Dancers, Italian small bites, and many others. 13TH ANNUAL RODS ON THE WHARF

November 9th from 10 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Enjoy seeing up close all types of pre-1975 vintage cars and trucks. There will be live music by Rock, Paper and Scissors. Free admission! For more information, contact Terry Wecker at 831-809-6252. Proceeds are donated to the Gateway Center of Monterey County, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, benefiting the developmentally disabled adults of Monterey County.

5TH ANNUAL WHALEFEST MONTEREY

Saturday and Sunday, January 24 & 25, 2015

At Monterey's Old Fisherman's Wharf

On Saturday, January 24 & 25, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, the Monterey Old Fisherman's Wharf Association (www.montereywharf.com) will hold the 5th Annual WHALEFEST MONTEREY at and around Fisherman’s Wharf, 1 Old Fisherman’s Wharf, Monterey, CA. This popular event celebrates the migration of the gray whales. It is designed to educate and inspire the public about many of the outstanding marine organizations that are involved in the Monterey Bay area and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. 4TH ANNUAL MONTEREY BEER GARDEN

September 27, 2014 - Noon to 4 pm - Custom House Plaza

Enjoy the 4th Annual Monterey Beer Garden in Custom House Plaza behind the Portola Hotel & Spa. Admission tickets include BBQ, unlimited beer tastings and live music by Velvet Plum! THE FIRST INAUGURAL MONTEREY BAY SPORTFEST

Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5, 2014

The Monterey Beach Sportsfest is a celebration of wellness both for people and for the ocean we love and enjoy so much. Join us for two exciting days of competitive events in the waters and along the shore of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. An eclectic mix of beach and ocean competitions including 2-person beach volleyball, ocean water polo, open water swims, splash and dash (swim/run) and the Ikaika Challenge (multi-sport activity). In addition, there is a two-day Expo featuring booths celebrating the oceans as well as human wellness.  Event highlights also include a beer garden, food trucks and beach activities including beach yoga and kayak or paddleboard demonstrations.  A landing of Hawaiian outriggers will also occur on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.www.http://www.montereybeachsf.com/

A celebration of a year-long gathering of stories and mementos of the Fishing Families that made Monterey famous. The industry had a great impact on the families and future generations of Italian and descendants of the multicultural fishing pioneers. CALL FOR MARINE PHOTOGRAPHS

TO BE DISPLAYED DURING WHALEFEST MONTEREY

The Monterey History and Art Association, Museum of Monterey-Stanton Center, Fisherman's Wharf Association and Whalefest 2015 are calling for submissions of photographs by local photographers from Monterey and Santa Cruz counties to be exhibited at the Museum (5 Custom House Plaza in Monterey) and subsequently donated to a drawing to benefit both the Museum and Whalefest Monterey. Photograph submisssions due via email by October 15, 2014. Read more
